UUWT helped a midwife get to her deliveries on time.

For the past two years UUWT has been funding travel expenses for a Hillingdon resident studying midwifery at Kings College London.

It was beneficial for this applicant to reside in London as she was on 12 hour shifts. UUWT were pleased to be able to ease the financial situation by providing a travel card for this trainee midwife.

She writes Thanks to UUWT I was able to purchase an annual travel pass which meant I could get to the hospital or into the community quickly when a woman needed to be seen. I am so grateful for UUWT’s support as I would not have been able to afford this travel pass alone.”

This funding also enabled her to attend midwifery conferences “Listening to such inspirational midwives gave me a new burst of energy just when I was in need of some encouragement.”

UUWT’s assistance is no longer needed as she has now found lodgings near the hospital so she will be cycling to work and feeling, as she puts it, like she is straight out of the cast of the BBC’s ‘Call the Midwife’.

“I cannot thank UUWT enough for their exceedingly generous support that helped me get where I needed to be throughout my first two years of training.”
